I’m still here.
The funny thing about life is that we can plan all we want, and it still ends up surprising us.
My internship with the Bay City Times ended in early June.
By that time, I had transitioned from a photo intern to “the intern who writes stories and takes photos and videos for them and sometimes also does other photo-related things, especially if it’s at night.”
By that time, I had claimed several front page photos and stories as well as some Sunday centerpieces.
I’d grown. I’d made friends. I fell in love.
And I met this guy.
So I’m still here. In Bay City, Michigan.
For a little while, at least.
I’m freelancing for the Times, the Midland Daily News and the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw as well as making portraits for individuals. I’ll try to be better about updating my blog now that life is a little less hectic.
Meanwhile, as the job search continues, I’m rediscovering how delightful it can be to make photos for yourself, not an editor, a client or a deadline.
But that doesn’t change that I’m a journalist…. and I’ve definitely had dreams of going out on assignments.
